Redding Help the Homeless Library Protest Engaged #OpReddingLibrary

The operation "Redding Help the Homeless Library Protest" is Engaged! Shasta Counties last vestige of public freedom, houseless that are suffering this winter have taken refuge there and need your support!

It seems the City of Redding has made it completely a crime to be homeless anywhere in Redding and Shasta County, and as they suffer they could use your love and compassion.

Tents, Blankets, Jackets, Sleeping bags, and Gloves are desperately needed. Food is greatly appreciated.

Is there talk of ALL REDDING AND SHASTA COUNTY HOMELESS Camping on the Shasta County Library property to demonstrate the true numbers of homeless suffering here?

Should there be a protest tent city on the very grounds of civil and constitutional liberties afforded by our public library?

Should cannabis tax revenue be used to construct a new Redding low barrier homeless shelter ?

Drop off donations to groups and individuals all around the Redding Library. Tents, Sleeping Bags, Blankets, Socks, Tarps, Dog and People Food, Hot Drinks desperately needed.

Lives will be saved...

The #OpReddingLibrary is Engaged !

Chico California cannabis committee has ordinance in the works

After 9 weeks, the committee has a good idea of the ordinance they want to propose to regulate recreational marijuana sales in the City of Chico.

CHICO, Calif. -
California voters said yes to recreational marijuana in 2016.
Nearly three years later, the City of Chico is getting ready to get on board.

"We have a massive debt crisis, an under-funded pensions crisis… to the extent that the city could have more money to clean up the streets and do things that would be a benefit to the residents, I think that would be a good thing," said Miles Rampel, lives in Chico.

9 weeks ago, a committee of community representatives from both sides of the issue started exploring what marijuana sales, production, and distribution would look like for Chico.
Teri Dubose represents the Downtown Chico Business Association.

"I think it's best that we start small and grow from there, based on how it's doing rather than starting really big and trying to reign things back in," Dubose said.

Some people in Chico say that's probably a good idea.

Redding Fines Cancer Patient $40,000 For Growing Cannabis

By R.V. Scheide  July 16, 2019

"Mike Rubin lives on borrowed time. The 40-year-old northeast Pennsylvanian native was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2010. In 2011, Rubin endured four months of brutal chemotherapy, only to have the tumors in his neck and shoulders return three months later.

His doctors recommended another round of chemo, this time combined with radiation. But Rubin had other ideas. The first round of chemo had ravaged his body and mind. After researching all of his options on the internet, he rejected sound mainstream medical advice and elected to treat his cancer with cannabis.

“They thought I was being an idiot,” he told me last week, sitting in the small living room in the modest south Redding rental he shares with his wife. “I thought I was doing the right thing.”

Redding and Shasta County No New Tax For New Jail Group

A powerful political group is forming in Redding California,

Its no secret, residents feel strongly about the lack of transparency in Redding and Shasta County government. Resident veterans have nearly died in our present jail facility not receiving the proper medical care.

More people homeless sleep on Redding streets and sidewalks all over town, growing mental health issues are not being properly addressed. Its an emergency, a low barrier homeless shelter is desperately needed.

Anderson Police Chief Johnson "Stalag" homeless "solution"

Anderson police 'embrace' pigdom during Chinese Year of the Pig

Say NO to Anderson California police Chief Johnson and his proposal for a transitional rehabilitation center in Shasta County. Seems anything but Christian....even Anti Christ since a federal court affirms cities can’t criminalize homelessness.

“The idea of forcing homeless people into detention facilities through some kind federally led, law enforcement/military style effort is also inhumane and grotesque, and does not appear to have been thought out so hopefully that is not actually the strategy.”

Redding Downtown Post Office Completly Fenced Off To Homeless

And somebody again please remind me how Red Bluff police can afford officer body cameras and Redding police department cannot ?

And it seems like with an expanding coffer of ever growing Redding and Shasta County cannabis tax revenues and marijuana sold one must ask no jail funding there ? We of course need more police and fire staff.

Perhaps you are concerned with other local problems. Folks who feel their are far more pressing issues in our community...

Redding revises cannabis ordinance

And new changes in redding's cannabis ordinance could make it easier for manufacturers to get up and running

The Redding city council approved a new, revised cannabis ordinance at its meeting last night.

Under the new rules, manufacturers will be able to open up in areas zoned for heavy commercial as long as they have a 'site development' permit.

Really what it means is it opens up the territory under which a manufacturer can actually function and operate within the city limits. Another thing that they changed was the allowance for the use of butane as a solvent.

Tippin says butane, used in licensed, state-regulated facilities has been proven to be safe.

Previously, manufacturers could only operate in areas zoned for industrial use.

The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers Classic Comic Book

The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers is an underground comic about a fictional trio of stoner characters, created by the American artist Gilbert Shelton.

Born in Dallas in 1940. At university in Austin he became editor of the student magazine, The Texas Ranger. This was to prove Shelton’s last ‘real job’. For in 1967, after contributing to various underground comix with his earliest character, Wonder Wart-Hog, and designing posters for rock concerts, Shelton created The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. In 1969 he and some friends from Texas moved to San Francisco to set up Rip Off Press from where Freak Brothers strips were soon syndicated, borrowed (or stolen!) by a host of American underground newspapers and magazines. The first collection was published in 1971 and has since been joined by thirteen further Freak Brothers adventures. Fat Freddy’s Cat, the feline world’s number one cat, started out as a footnote strip to the Freak Brothers but has led an independent – and very successful – life since 1975.

The Freak Brothers are still going strong. They are published in 15 languages and worldwide sales are now over 40 million copies plus millions of items of merchandise, T-shirts, postcards, badges, posters and more. Shelton currently lives in Paris, France with his wife and three cats.

The works enjoy a sizable cannabis cult marijuana humor following and the magazines are widely available in comic stores.

The Impact of Cannabis Europa in the UK
In May 2018, Cannabis Europa brought together, for the first time, industry-leading players and the most influential political and scientific actors in the UK. Projections for a similar French medical cannabis market in the same time frame amount to €8.9 billion.

Redding gives a green light to first cannabis cultivator

10/12/18

Redding California - "Location, location, location.

Minutes before ratifying its objection to a cannabis cultivation business opening next to the Good News Rescue Mission, the Redding Planning Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved a similar operation on Innsbruck Drive in a largely industrial area.

The Planning Commission made quick work of the Innsbruck proposal, approving Pinnacle Cultivator’s use permit after nobody spoke for or against the commercial marijuana business on the city's east side, north of Highway 44.

It was a stark contrast to the commission’s Aug. 28 meeting, when Aleck Commercial Cultivation’s proposal for South Market Street drew opposition from the Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter that also operates addiction recovery programs for men and women.

After hearing those concerns, the Planning Commission at that meeting blocked the project, a decision it ratified 5-2 on Tuesday. Commissioners Michele Goedert and Randy Memeo dissented.

Among the other reasons the Planning Commission denied Aleck Commercial Cultivation’s use permit is the location is in a high-crime area and it’s close to homes and apartments.
Aleck Cultivation has appealed to the Redding City Council.

Meanwhile, Pinnacle Cultivators scored the city’s first use permit for a marijuana commercial cultivation business.

Before endorsing it, Commissioner Goedert recommended removing a condition requiring a facility processing food or drink products containing cannabis be required to connect to kitchen drainage fixtures.

“We don’t want to give the appearance at all that it could be anything other than cultivation,” Goedert said.

The condition was removed and the project passed.

Pinnacle Cultivators owner Kole Heston has said he wants to open in six months to a year. Heston owns the 2915 Innsbruck Drive building.

He has been cultivating and selling cannabis to dispensaries locally and across California for 10 years. When California voters made recreational marijuana legal in 2016, Heston saw an opportunity to grow his business.

A 2007 Pioneer High School graduate (he also attended Foothill High), Heston has said he got into the cannabis business for its healing qualities.

Pinnacle Cultivators will have 10 to 15 employees to start. But Heston envisions five to 10 years from now expanding into distribution and retail and employing 50 to 100 people."

Redding man's 4/20 surprise: $47,500 in fines over alleged pot violations

5/5/18

"A Redding man is on the hook for almost $50,000 after city code enforcement officials said they found numerous violations at his home — including over 400 marijuana plants — on April 20, a de facto holiday in cannabis culture.

Redding California Code Enforcement Supervisor Steve Willkomm said the pot at 30-year-old Benjamin Segan's Spaniel Court home was in the dining room, bedroom closet, an "entire bedroom" and the entire two-car garage. Residents who are allowed to grow can only have up to six plants. The house is some 333 feet from Boulder Creek Elementary School, Willkomm said.

Some of the pot was still growing, while some of it was drying or already harvested in plastic and glass containers, Willkomm said.

Meanwhile, Willkomm said there were also illegal alterations at the house, including an inoperable garage door with hardware removed, a sealed side door, plastic sheeting on interior walls, air conditioning equipment that was "larger than the main house system," an extra electrical panel and wiring in the garage, and a Co2 burner with propane tanks.

Willkomm said he fined Segan $47,500 for the zoning, building and pot violations at the home. He might also face criminal charges from law enforcement, Willkomm said.
Segan couldn't be reached for comment.

Willkomm said it's important to remember that all marijuana grows in the city — even medicinal ones — have to be indoors, and the grower has to have a license to grow and possibly also building permits."

Here's a link to the city's pot rules: https://www.cityofredding.org/home/showdocument?id=18989
