A growing body of clinical research and a history of anecdotal evidence support
the use of cannabis for the relief of some types of chronic pain, including neuropathic pain, and spasticity (ie, stiffness or tightness) associated with multiple sclerosis.
In a recent comprehensive review of existing data on the health effects of cannabis and cannabinoids, the National Academies of Science concluded that adult patients with chronic pain who were treated with cannabis/cannabinoids were more likely to experience a clinically significant reduction in pain symptoms.
They rated these effects as “modest.”
Studies also suggest some efficacy for cancer-related pain, migraines, and fibromyalgia, and other pain conditions.
However, how different species, routes of administration, and doses differ in their effect is less clear, and more research is needed.
Humboldt County, California is world renowned for producing some of the top tier cannabis strains. Socially conscious cannabis company Papa and Barkley, based in Eureka, is stimulating the local economy while utilizing locally grown strains in their product line.
The population of Humboldt is approximately 300,000, with about 28,000 people in Eureka. The town and the surrounding area has fallen on hard times since the logging industry, shipping and lumber companies have left the area. P&B is poised to become a significant employer in Humboldt along with Coast Seafoods and Fox Farms. The company is aware that hiring employees locally makes a positive impact.
Papa and Barkley began as a passion project, explains the company's congenial founder Adam Grossman, in his loft in Eureka's Buehne building, over oysters from Humboldt Bay, while a bartender mixes cannabis-infused cocktails.
"Our Releaf line was inspired by a son’s mission to ease his elderly father’s immobilizing back pain A condition that forced the family to place “Papa” in hospice. The original balm formulated in our founder’s kitchen eased his father’s pain and, in conjunction with other therapies, got Papa off hospice and able to return home.
Our Company is named after Papa and the family’s loyal pit bull, Barkley, symbolizing the unconditional love and support that we hope to capture in the products that we make today."
Papa & Barkley’s foundation is based on quality first, clean products, and transparency.
From organic farm practices to our whole plant infusion process, we say no to solvents
and yes to clean ingredients because you deserve the best.
